Second Avenue Donates Website to Baobab Cultural Center
Rochester, NY – October 15, 2007 – Second Avenue Software, Inc. has donated its design talents and programming skills to the creation of a new website for the Baobab Cultural Center.
For the past three years, The Baobab has been a venue for bringing gallery art, African craft, films, book discussions, poetry readings and storytelling to the Rochester community. With its growing popularity and a membership roster of 5000 patrons, The Baobab has been in need of a new website to better serve its users. Second Avenue volunteered to develop an updated website with new graphics and revised navigation, as well as a content management system enabling Baobab staff to keep the website up to date. The new site gives teachers, parents and children access to a local resource center rooted in African folklore and African-American literature.
The Baobab Cultural Center is located in downtown Rochester at 728 University Avenue in the heart of the city’s art district, also known as ArtWalk. The center is named after the Baobab tree, a sacred symbol of strength for African tribes and a centerpiece for social, ritual and political events. Much like its emblem, The Baobab Cultural Center provides a central location for people of all races and backgrounds to share, learn and build social connections.
Second Avenue Software is proud to support the local arts community by contributing to the Baobab Cultural Center.
