Second Avenue Builds with Flower City Habitat for Humanity
Pittsford, NY – November 2, 2006 – The employees of Second Avenue Software Inc. dedicated November 2 to Flower City Habitat for Humanity and their community projects. Employees participated in a variety of local Habitat projects, including the Women Build house at 43 Madison Street in the historic Susan B. Anthony neighborhood; the Rauber Street build; and Restore, the Habitat for Humanity retail store for used house parts, located at the Rochester Public Market.
“We have many RIT and University of Rochester graduates at the company who are committed to staying in the Rochester area, and this was a concrete way for us to show our commitment to the community and the regeneration of the downtown area,” said Victoria Van Voorhis, CEO of Second Avenue Software Inc.
The employees chose Habitat for Humanity as their community project this year because they liked the model of recipients being invested in the program, which requires owners to have "sweat equity" in their home and to contribute to the building of other homes.
