This and other Biology interactives were created to accompany the 2008 release of Holt, Rinehart and Winston's high school Biology textbook. Each interactive was developed by Second Avenue Software's subject matter experts and instructional designers to supplement the material in the textbook. In this particular interactive, Respiration in Invertebrates, the user explores the anatomy and metabolism of a variety of invertebrates, specifically the method by which each type of invertebrate extracts oxygen from the surrounding environment.
