This and other Spectrum Science interactives were created to accompany the 2008 release of a Holt, Rinehart and Winston textbook of the same name. The textbook serves as an introductory survey of all the main branches of science. Each interactive was developed by Second Avenue Software's subject matter experts and instructional designers to supplement the material in the textbook. This interactive teaches students about seismic activity. The user gets a firsthand look at how earthquakes are created, then has an opportunity to measure and record earthquakes around the globe.
