| Spectrum Science: Roller Coaster Science ______ | |||||||||||||||||||
|
| The Spectrum Science series of interactives were created to accompany the 2008 release of a Holt, Rinehart and Winston textbook of the same name. The textbook serves as an introductory survey of all the main branches of science. Each interactive was developed by Second Ave. subject matter experts and instructional designers to suppliment the material in the textbook. This particular interactive, Roller Coaster Science, allows users to explore the coolest example of gravitational potential energy at work. By building and manipulating roller coaster tracks, users can see energy transfer happening right before their eyes. Also, by swapping materials that sections of track are made out of, they get to experience the effect of friction on efficiency. As a final activty, users are instructed to build a roller coaster that must meet a variety of design specifacations to pass. |
